Overview

Aller Castle was founded durring the early 13th century in summer of the year 1243, by Khnegmas Stallybrass. The establishment of Aller Castle was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Khnegmas Stallybrass electing to pay people to resettle in Aller Castle.

Aller Castle was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Aller Castle is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

Aller Castle is was constructed arround several premissive packed earth mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The city rests behind a thin stone wall. The wall's design was likly directly copied from a castle's parmiter defences. It's simply that the arcatect made Aller Castle's wall substancialy thinner than a castle's walls. While the towers and gatehouses are adiquite, the obvious cost savings measure of making the walls drasticaly thinner reduces their ability to resist siege weapons greatly. The city's impressive-looking wall could fail at a critical moment in battle, and would likely not even resist a few bandits with improvised siege equipment. Aller Castle's budget oriented has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

Aller Castle has the unmistakable air of a city on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Aller Castle ’s existence has dried up and the city is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Even with that as it is, everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or much of both. The town should be gone, not dying. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable.

POI

History

Aller Castle used to be more prosperous, but something happened relatively long ago that left it a shrunken shadow of its former self. If the settlement is prosperous, the locals often lament how much more they could have had. If the settlement is not prosperous, the locals blame their ill fortunes on that event. Reminders of this better time can be found in many places within Aller Castle.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Aller Castle was attacked by members of a peasant revolt. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Aller Castle lost 296 people, 162 livestock, and 85 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 191, when members of Aller Castle's militia enacted an operation to capture a particular fortification intact. The operation was complicated by at least some of the intelligence related to the operation was incorrect. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in victory for Aller Castle's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Aller Castle's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
